Herman (1867 – 1938) Herman was born to Abraham and Sarah in Brody. He is the younger brother of Bertha.

In 1891 he traveled to the US but returned to the UK. He was married to Lotte.  From at least 1901 – 1907 they lived in London, England, but then came to the US where Herman was a barber and then an insurance salesman in Newark, NJ.

Coincidentally, the Wosnitzers (the family that adopted my mother) lived in Newark during the time that he lived there. It is my theory that he had something to do with my mother’s adoption and might have arranged it.

He was still living in Newark in 1918. the year my mother was born. He was still living in Newark as of the 1922 Directory.

According to the 1930 Federal Census, he was living with Lottie and a niece, Beatrice Rosenkrantz, in Brooklyn, NY, on Cook Street. Was Beatrice Herman’s or Lottie’s niece?

Lottie died before him and at his death, he lived with his sister, Bertha in Brooklyn, NY. He is buried in Mt. Judah Cemetery in Ridgewood, New York. He and Lottie never had children of their own, so he left his estate of less than $500 of personal property to his sister, Bertha.
